NARRATIVE:
WINNABOW, NC – A 19-year-old motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries last Sunday in a two-vehicle crash along the highway in eastern Brunswick County.
The accident happened shortly after 5 p.m. at the intersection of US-17 southbound and the Bell Swamp Connection in the city of Winnabow.
Police say that the victim’s southbound motorcycle collided with an SUV when the driver of the latter vehicle failed to yield right of way while crossing the highway on the Bell Swamp Connection.
The impact of the collision threw the motorcyclist from his bike, killing him at the scene. Authorities identified the victim as Chance Rembert Way.
Officials charged the 86-year-old driver of the SUV with misdemeanor death by vehicle.
A full investigation is underway.
