NARRATIVE:
DURHAM, NC – Two people were hurt Monday in a two-vehicle accident along the interstate in southwest Durham.
The crash happened just after 8 a.m. on the eastbound side of I-40 near Fayetteville Rd, which is just northwest of Renaissance Center mall.
Police say the collision involved a pickup truck and an 18-wheeler. The impact of the two vehicles pushed the semi off of the interstate.
Medics transported both drivers to the hospital with unknown injuries. Both are expected to survive the crash.
Officials closed two lanes of I-40 eastbound for around seven hours while emergency crews responded to the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
