NARRATIVE:
BENSON, NC – One person died, and three people sustained injuries Friday in an alleged DUI crash along the highway in Benson.
The accident happened in the early morning hours on Highway 27 between Highway 50 and Hodges Chapel Road. This is on the northwest side of the city.
Police say that a GMC pickup truck and a Ford sedan collided head-on along the highway.
The driver of the sedan died at the scene. Authorities have not yet released their identity to the public.
Medics transported a passenger from the sedan and the two occupants of the pickup truck to an area hospital with unknown injuries.
Authorities say that one of the drivers was likely intoxicated when the wreck occurred.
A full investigation is underway.
