NARRATIVE:
KINSTON, NC – A toddler died, and a man sustained serious injuries late last week when a vehicle struck them in the parking lot of a Kinston apartment complex.
The accident occurred on Friday at the Carver Courts apartment complex on Bright Street. This is east of Queen Street and north of the Georgia K. Battle Community Center.
The two-year-old victim died after transport to an area hospital.
Medics transported the other victim, a 35-year-old man, to ECU Health Center.
The driver involved in the crash, who has since been identified as Rashon Wade, fled the scene of the accident.
Police later determined that Wade is the father of the 2-year-old girl that died. Wade faces multiple charges, including DWI, second degree murder, and felony hit-and-run.
A full investigation is underway.
